A Collaboration Between Moonkoo and Illustrator Yoon
Every ribbon in this collection began as a game. Yoon's cat, Miru, has never once let a ribbon wand pass by without chasing it, and somewhere between the sketchbook and the studio floor, that sweet little habit grew into a card collection. Moonkoo teamed up with Yoon, a Korean illustrator based in New York, to bring that everyday warmth to paper.
Meet Yoon and Miru
Yoon draws from real life, and Miru is her favorite subject by far. This series began as quick, affectionate sketches of Miru at play, ears back and ribbon flying, and slowly grew into a set of cards built around the small, easy happiness a cat brings into a home.
Why Ribbons 🎀
For a cat, a ribbon wand is pure celebration. It shows how something as simple as a piece of ribbon can hold connection, playfulness, and joy all at once. Yoon wanted the cards to hold onto that same feeling, so each design gently captures one of those tender in between moments, from the leap to the chase to the happy little pause after.
Why We Made This Collection
Moonkoo has always loved discovering Korean designers whose work deserves to travel beyond Seoul, and Yoon's art, warm, playful, and unmistakably her own, felt like an easy yes. This collaboration is part of an ongoing series pairing Moonkoo with independent Korean designers living in New York, sharing their perspective with a wider audience through everyday paper goods made with care.
